Founder and Managing Director

Brian holds the highest professional qualifications in marketing and insurance and has a proven track record of success, featuring at the heart of four major industry awards for DAS, Greystoke Legal Services, the Hanover Park Group and diB Insurance.

Formerly in charge of Commercial Marketing and a South East Regional Manager with Norwich Union (now Aviva), Brian entered the legal insurance sector in 1996 with Greystoke Legal Services and quickly helped to turn this company into the market leader for the emergent litigation insurance market. He joined DAS in 2002 to run its subsidiary ATE insurance division '80e' which grew by 300% in the next 4 years. In 2005 Brian was invited to represent the industry position to HMG's Civil Justice Council. A well-known figure on the solicitor lecture circuit, Brian has an almost unsurpassed width of knowledge on the issues facing the legal profession and UK insurance broker market.

Brian established Straight Solutions in 2006 and the company has grown progressively into a niche operation of substance, specialising in problem solving with integrity and creativity.

Director

Mark Baker is a legal expenses insurance and litigation funding specialist and became a Director of Straight Solutions in July 2020. Mark brings with him specialist knowledge of legal expenses products and solutions and is held in high regard with many key contacts in the legal and litigation services sector . His key focus is to assist law firms imbed employer protection dispute insurance as part of their growth and profitability strategies. Mark established, Client Care Options Ltd, in 2013, specialising in commercial “After the Event” ( ATE) and litigation funding. Mark has since become the ATE arm of Straight Solutions, as part of a strategy to offer a wider portfolio of legal insurance products making Straight Solutions one of the country’s leading consultancies for law firms and HR Advisors. Mark’s varied career began when he joined Lloyd’s syndicate 250 in 1992 providing insurance capacity behind the first After the Event policies issued. His career progressed into the provincial market as a senior underwriter for Wren Insurance Services ( a Brit Insurance subsidiary in Cheltenham and Bristol). He went on to work with various niche legal expenses insurers and brokerages and then became a regional sales manager for Firstassist and leading litigation funder Burford Capital.

Employment Schemes - Administration Manager

At the start of her career Debbie worked in the City as a legal PA to a top London Solicitor for 10 years before leaving the UK to live and work in Greece. On returning to the UK Debbie worked in the voluntary sector before joining Straight Solutions in 2013 where she is responsible for the administration of the HR Dept Insurance Scheme.

Karen joined Straight Solutions in September 2021, having moved to Sherborne from Bristol. She leads on the administration of unoccupied property insurance. A native of Northern Ireland, Karen began her career in London after graduating from Salford University with a degree in Modern Languages.

Caroline has been with Straight Solutions since September 2021 and works with Debbie on the HR Dept Insurance scheme and other legal expenses insurance. Caroline began her career in retail, becoming Department Manager and Office Manager, before moving into Human Resources, in which she has over 20 years’ experience and is a Qualified CIPD Associate.
